Spring is officially here, and it’s the perfect time to refresh your outdoor space! While most people focus on indoor spring cleaning, your yard, lawn and outdoor furniture could use some attention too. In this guide, we’ll cover essential tasks and tools to help you get your outdoor areas clean, organized and ready for summer.

Yard Clean-Up
- Leaves, twigs and other debris can accumulate during the fall and winter months. Raking or blowing this away can help to prevent mold and make room for new growth in your yard
- Sweeping your patio, driveway, and other walkways is essential to clear off dirt, leaves and dust. Libman’s Multi-Surface Push Broom is perfect for sweeping decks, patios, garages, and more. Its wide broom head is designed to tackle large areas, making cleanup quick and easy
- Clear out flower beds from last season’s dead plants and leaves
Lawn Care
- Start by raking any leftover sticks and leaves from your lawn. Follow up with mowing to renew your yard’s look
- Make sure your garden tools are clean and ready for the season. Wipe them down with a damp cloth or scrub them with our Small Scrub Brush to remove any grime or rust buildup
Outdoor Furniture Care
- Cleaning outdoor furniture can get rid of dirt, mildew, or salt that built up over the fall and winter. Use Libman’s All-Purpose Scrubbing Brush with warm soapy water to clean chairs, tables, and other furniture. Wash cushions or fabric covers according to care instructions to refresh their look
- Shake out any dirt or dust from your outdoor rugs, and wash them out with a hose if needed. For deeper cleaning, some outdoor rugs can be scrubbed with soap and water to remove dirt buildup and odors
Deck, Patio, Garage, and Porch Cleaning
- After a long winter, these areas may have accumulated dirt, leaves, and grime. First start by sweeping with our Indoor/Outdoor Angle Broom to clear away larger debris. Follow up by scrubbing the surface using our Floor Scrubber with some dish soap and warm water. Vinegar and baking soda is another great alternative
- You can also use a hose or pressure washer to rinse off the surfaces of these areas
- Scrub any dirt from railings and fences with a scrub brush. For wooden railings, use a wood-safe cleaner to protect these surfaces
Windows and Screens
- Clean both inside and outside of your windows to remove dirt, dust, and smudges. Use warm water and soapy water and Libman’s Window Squeegee to get a no-streak shine
- Wash your window screens to remove dust, cobwebs, and grime. Use a soft brush or vacuum to gently clean them, and if possible, remove the screens and rinse them with soapy water
- Window tracks can be cleaned using Libman’s FiberForce™ Tile & Grout Brush and soapy water
Clean Trash Cans and Bins
- Empty trash cans and recycling bins and scrub them with soapy water to remove any odors and grime. Use a hose to wash out the inside of your containers
Clean Your Grill
This will help burn off leftover food residue and grease
- Use the Libman Brass Grill Brush to clean off any leftover food particles and grease on your grill grate from last summer. Its scraper can help remove tough stains
- If your grates are still really greasy, soak them in warm soapy water for about 15-20 minutes and scrub again with the brush. Rinse afterwards and dry
We hope that this guide helps you to plan out your spring cleaning tasks so that you can make your home and outdoor spaces fresh, clean and ready for the warmer months ahead. Happy cleaning!
